Participating in a 42.195 kilometer marathon when you have myopathy: a real challenge for a 16-year-old teenager from Anglet. Thimoté uses a wheelchair due to muscular disorders related to Duchenne muscular dystrophy. A neuromuscular disease that causes progressive weakening of the muscles. He aims to participate in “Marathon for all” which will take place on the night of August 10, 2024 on the course of the Olympic Games in Paris. In the meantime, to prepare with his partner responsible for pushing Thimoté on a special racing chair, he will line up for the Mont-de-Marsan marathon on October 8.
Objective: finish the race
Thimoté loves sports. Many disciplines. Rugby, football, motorcycling and F1. He watches television at his home in Anglet or even sometimes goes to the circuits. “I went to Le Mans” he said with stars in his eyes. But with the Paris marathon, just before the Olympic eventhe will be an actor and not just a spectator. “The goal is to finish the race” emphasizes the teenager who hopes to win a bib for the Paris competition. For that, he will have to line up with the Landes marathon in October. He will then be with his partner Thibaut who resides in Paris.

“Living Your Dreams”
“It’s a bib that has to be won and not paid for, that’s why we are very motivated” insists Julie, the mother. “Illness does not prevent you from realizing your dreams and living despite the difficulties of everyday life” adds Thimoté’s mother. Internal in a specialized institution in Salies-de-Béarn and educated in an inclusive class in Sauveterre-de-Béarn, Thimoté also hopes to be part of the great Olympic celebration.
