Wheat and Barley: consider management strategies

The agricultural producers of 9 de Julio and the area have a very valuable tool before making decisions in their activities, such as training with technical conferences. For four years, INTA together with the local Rural Society, the Círculo de Ingenieros Agrónomos and the Regional Aapresid 9 de Julio-Casares have organized the cycle of meetings that take place virtually after the pandemic. In this case, aspects related to the next fine season were addressed, which according to the perspectives analyzed by Engineer Luis Ventimiglia, the scenario prior to the sowing of wheat and barley is positive.
On Wednesday, May 19, the fourth training meeting for producers, technicians, companies and students took place. In addition to the wheat and barley crops, the treatment of market analysis continued.
Through the YouTube channel of INTA Pergamino, the interesting talk of the Head of INTA 9 de Julio could be followed. Ventimiglia reported that the projection of sowing in wheat would reach 6.5 M / ha. and 1.15 M / ha. for barley. Regarding expectations, he pointed out that a production of around 23 million tons of grains is expected for the two crops.

Regarding these test results, in some cases more than 7,000 kilos were reached in wheat and the average was 6,000 kilos / ha.
At the end of his presentation, Ventimiglia commented on the use of a lactoferment in the fertilization of the trial, from whey developed by an agronomist. Ventimiglia reported on the possibility offered by this tool, and noted that the result in cultivation was remarkable.
MARKET
The Agricultural Production Engineer, Sebastián Gavalda was in charge of the space related to markets. He considered that more wheat will be sown than last season. He spoke about the impact of the production possibilities of the European Union, Russia, Canada, the United States, Ukraine, Argentina and Australia, and the role of the main buyers, China, India, Africa, the Middle East and Brazil (which demand wheat to Argentina).
The good prospects have to do with the fact that China could import about 10 million tons.
Gavaldá pointed out that Argentina has three destinations for its wheat: the domestic market, Brazil and other countries in Africa and the Middle East, the price is higher. One of the interesting aspects related to commercialization was the recommendation to sell before and during the harvest, except that they have high quality and can sustain it.
