WhatsApp’s New Feature to Send High Quality Videos is Testing

Suara.com – A new feature WhatsApp which allows users to send high quality videos is being tested. Users can later choose whether they want to share the video in a lower quality.

According to the report WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature called Video Upload Quality. This feature is available on WhatsApp beta version 2.21.14.6 for Android devices.

In the screenshot shown, the user has three options to choose from to share the video. Starting from Auto (recommended), Best quality, and Data saver.

The Auto option will read the algorithm to determine the best compression to send the video. While Best quality will force the application to send videos with the highest resolution.

While the last option allows users to send customized videos if they do not have a high bandwidth network. The video will be compressed at a lower resolution.

For those who choose Best quality, the video delivery process is expected to take longer because it depends on the speed of the network you have or the device you are using. However it can provide a better video viewing experience.

However, it should be noted that this feature is still in development stage. There is no information when WhatsApp will release it to the public version.

On the other hand, WhatsApp does not allow users to send videos that are more than 16MB in size. This video has a duration equivalent to 90 seconds to three minutes. It’s not yet clear if that limit will continue to apply when the high-resolution feature rolls out.
