Like social networks, messaging applications have been working for years to encompass, increasingly, a wider range of communication possibilities and services: from stories to statuses, passing through group chats. In this context, WhatsApp would be working on a new functionality called “Communities”focused on facilitating the management of groups with related topics.
The goal is to offer greater control to the administrators of the conversation groups

As reported WABetaInfoportal specialized in news, projects and updates of the application owned by Meta, the new functionality would allow gathering in one place thematically related groups to manage their access and administer them. The objective is none other than to have several conversation groups connected to offer greater control to the administrator of all of them.
In this sense, the movement would suppose the approach of WhatsApp to applications such as Slack or Discord, used especially in work environments. On these platforms, a company could have its own space or server, and within these, manage different groups of users corresponding, for example, to different departments or business areas. In this sense, each group would work independently, but they would be connected within the same place.
The portal WABetaInfo already reported that WhatsApp would be working on this functionality earlier this year, and has now announced that “Communities” would have a dedicated tab at the top left of the main home page of the app. In such a way that the new functionality would replace the camera button that currently appears in that location, to the left of “Chats”.

The aforementioned medium also announced a few weeks ago that this new functionality would be being developed in a beta version for iOS devices, a service that, apparently, the platform plans to extend to the Android operating system. However, as it is still in the development phase, the specific operation of the tool or the date on which it could be implemented is unknown.
