WhatsApp is one of instant messaging apps most used in the world; currently has two million active users, half a million less than Facebook Messenger, who ranks first; in third and a little far, it is Telegram.
Due to the great demand for this type of Applications, is that they must be in constantly updated, all this to offer a better user experience for those who send messages to their family or must be online to work or study.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, social networks and messaging applications had an exponential increase in the number of downloads and active users, so the companies behind these applications have had to add functions and repair some errors in their platforms, and WhatsApp has not been the exception.
And, although millions of people in the world use WhatsApp, not all users will be able to use the famous application to 2021, since some updates are coming that already are not backward compatible of operating systems like Android or iOS, for example.
Next year, many will no longer be able to access the most up-to-date version of WhatsApp on their phones; These are the versions of Android that will be left without the application:

And is that according to the WhatsApp support page, the application will only work correctly and will receive updates for 2021 on smartphones that have an operating system. Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich and later versions (Jelly Bean, Kit Kat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, Pie, Android 10 y 11).
