WhatsApp will soon allow to know the former participants of a group

whatsapp smartphoneWhatsApp continues to add new group features and will soon show which users have left a group as well as which users have been removed by admins. A way to bring more transparency in the groups.

Conversations and group calls have benefited from several improvements on WhatsApp since the beginning of the year. It is now possible to make a video call with up to 32 participants, and groups can accommodate up to 512 people. Additionally, admins now have the ability to delete messages for all attendees.

But Meta’s messaging app doesn’t stop there and continues to improve its platform for users. WABetaInfo spotted in the latest beta for iOS (version 22.16.0.75) a new feature allowing users to view former participants of a group chatmeaning people who left the group or were deleted by an admin.

Test in progress on iOS, soon available on Android and Desktop

As seen in the screenshots above, this new option is displayed at the bottom of a group’s current participants list, which can be found in the chat information. It appears under the name “View former participants” and will display the names of people who have been removed from the group by an administrator or who have left the group on their own, within the last 60 days.

This list will be visible to all participants who have enabled the option in their settings, which means that it will not be exclusive to group administrators. On the other hand, the names of people who have been deleted or who have left the group will no longer appear in the conversation, except for administrators for moderation reasons.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp launched this new option for a few beta testers who downloaded the latest iOS beta version of the app via TestFlight. The feature should also arrive soon on Android and on the Desktop version of WhatsApp.
