WhatsApp will have a new pregnant man emoji

It seems that using emojis to communicate is a novelty that has accompanied us since the invention of the smartphone, but to tell the truth, we have communicated using images from long ago as the Egyptians did with the hieroglyphs or even the cavemen with the cave paintings.

Actually we have stickers, gifs, bitmojis, memes and much more to communicate in case we do not want to use written words or voice, but what is most popular are emojis, these funny yellow icons and flowers, animals, everyday objects, etc., which help us to spice up our conversations.

For some years now, emojis began to be inclusive when they launched the possibility of skin color customization in “human” emojis, and today they have been revolutionized to bring out non-binary and more diverse emojis for members of the LGBT + community.

The emojipedia along with WhatsApp is about to be updated and bring one of the most controversial emojis in all of history. In the latest Unicode update, in charge of approving the emoticons that will be present in all messaging services in the future, it was announced that new icons will be added, including that of the pregnant man.

In addition to the iconic pregnant man, the emoticons that will be added at the end of the year are: melting happy face, a king, biting lip, seed, glass of water, a slide, disco sphere, low battery, a coral, bubbles, a troll, crutches and many more. But as has already been mentioned in networks, the one that generates the most stir is that of the man who is expecting a baby.

This launch of new emojis is no coincidence, because the Emoji Day is commemorated on July 17, the new designs we knew we needed were unveiled and will be available from September this year.

Although, within this launch, those that attracted the most attention were those representing a pregnant man and a non-binary person also pregnant, especially in social networks where many user complaints were found. The objective of including these emojis is to give visibility and seek greater inclusion to trans people, being the ones that suffer the most violence within the community.

Many users celebrated this inclusion initiative and many did not, but there were also comments from people who said that it was going to be used to mention that someone is full of food or that they have an inflammation in the stomach, everything is a matter of perspective when it comes to communicate but it is good to see the inclusion of trans people.

Despite using images in the past to communicate, It was until 1999, when in the boom of the digital age the Japanese Shigetaka Kurita introduced the first set of color emojis taking inspiration from aspects of Japanese culture, such as manga and kanji.

At first the emojis were 176 characters of 12×12 pixels and its function was to show emotions that the text could not contain. It should be noted that WhatsApp and Unicode have more than 1200 emojis on its platform, highlighting the classic yellow faces, professions, sports, food, food, objects, among others.

Undoubtedly, everyone uses emojis and despite having a wide catalog to make our conversations more colorful, there are still many to add, we look forward to the end of the year to use the newly announced ones.
