Jakarta –
WhatsApp has launched the Disappearing Messages feature or Temporary Messages since late last year. But they continue to develop this feature by adding more duration options.
As is known, the current Disappearing Messages feature can delete messages automatically after seven days. But in its latest beta trial, this duration can be extended to 90 days.
This 90 day duration option was discovered by the WABetaInfo site on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.21.17.16. This new option is still under development and has not been released publicly, as quoted from Android Police, Thursday (19/8/2021).
WhatsApp has also previously developed an option to delete messages automatically after 24 hours. The options are found in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.21.9.6, and is still in development.

When these two options are still being developed publicly, WhatsApp will retain the seven-day option. So users can freely choose from three available options, namely 24 hours, seven days or 90 days according to their needs.
The use of this feature can also be more flexible. For example, users who want their secret messages to be deleted quickly can choose the 24-hour option, while users who want to delete their messages on WhatsApp periodically to save storage space can choose the 90-day option.
This Disappearing Messages feature can be used in individual or group chats. In individual chats, each party can enable or disable the Temporary Messages feature. While in group chats, only the admin is in control of activating this feature.
Because it is still in the development stage, some users WhatsApp beta may not be able to access this feature. It is not yet known when these two options will be released to all WhatsApp users, and whether they will be rolled out simultaneously.
WhatsApp recently completed the Disappearing Messages feature with the View Once feature which can delete photos and videos automatically after being viewed by the recipient. With these two features, WhatsApp is slowly starting to follow in the footsteps of Telegram, which has brought these two features first.
