For many people, WhatsApp is the communication medium of choice for staying in touch with friends, colleagues, neighbors or family. But if you write a lot in individual and group chats, you can quickly lose track. A new function is intended to remedy the situation.
To make things more organized, Whatsapp introduced a chat filter at the beginning of the year. The Facebook group Meta is now expanding this with the new “Lists” function, like the company in a blog post announced.
Categorize WhatsApp chats with the new “Lists” feature
With the lists, users filter the chats according to personalized categories. For example, the chats of work colleagues end up in the “Office” list and the neighbors in the “Neighborhood” list. This works with group and individual chats.

Whatsapp: This is how users create “lists”.
To create a list, users tap the plus symbol in the filter line in the chat overview at the top of the screen. The previous filters “All”, “Unread”, “Favorites” and “Groups” can be seen there. To edit a list, users hold down the corresponding list for a longer period of time.
A notice: Users who do not yet see the “lists” need a little patience: Whatsapp is rolling out the new function in waves. It can therefore sometimes take a few weeks until it ends up on your smartphone.
