Currently WhatsApp users can delete messages in 1 hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Messaging application WhatsApp has the feature of deleting messages. WhatsApp’s “Delete for everyone” feature is one of the most useful features launched in recent times. WhatsApp may soon make it better by extending the time limit for deleting messages.
Currently, users can delete messages sent within 1 hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds. According to a leak, WhatsApp might increase this limit to 2 days and 12 hours. This will be a substantial improvement over the 1 hour and 8 minute period.
This feature was discovered by WABetaInfo, a website that tracks all the latest features in the beta version of the app. Unfortunately, the feature is still not available to all beta users. Reportedly currently the feature is still in the development stage.
Start of “Delete for Everyone” deadline
Reported BGR, Thursday (3/2/2022), earlier, the same website had reported that WhatsApp was testing a time limit of 7 days and 8 minutes. The deadline was under development and never reached the final version. There is a possibility that WhatsApp will change the timeout before doing the final rollout.
BGR can’t confirm why WhatsApp wasted this new timeout. Perhaps the one week period seems a little impractical, even to users.
