WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform from Meta (formerly Facebook), is releasing a “big” update for its iPhone app. So, the new version of WhatsApp (version 23.3.77) brings the picture-in-picture feature for video calls.
New in version 23.3.77 the WhatsApp
This feature will then allow users to leave the application and go to another during a video call without the video being interrupted. Before that, if you made a video call on WhatsApp and exited in the application, your interlocutor will no longer see you (but will hear you); it was the same for you who were unable to see the person you were talking to. The Picture-in-Picture mode (picture in picture in French) was in test version at WhatsApp since last December.
Besides, the band added several other cool features. Here is the changelog of the version published by WhatsApp on the App Store:
- With support for iOS’s picture in picture (PiP) feature, you can now multitask without pausing your video.
- You can now add captions when sending documents.
- Group topics and descriptions are now longer to make it easier to describe your groups.
- You can now create custom avatars and use them as stickers and profile pictures. To get started, head to Settings > Avatar.
WhatsApp, however, says that these features are being rolled out and will be available to all users of its iPhone application in the coming weeks.
The messaging app WhatsApp is available for free on the App Store for iPhone. It requires an iPhone running iOS 12 or later.
