WhatsApp update: New feature changes the way you write

A WhatsApp-Update often brings new or improved features. However, it’s not uncommon that you only use these in specific scenarios or that you don’t even notice them. However, the current example will quickly catch your eye because it can be found in every one of your chats.

WhatsApp update: “Writing” display is being revised

If you are texting with one person or are in a group chat, you have probably experienced this situation a few times: While you want to reply to a message, the next messages come in, making your reply obsolete again. A current WhatsApp update should help here.

This can be particularly stressful in group chats, as several people often type at the same time. WhatsApp developer Meta has also recognized this problem and has therefore revised the “Writing” display, which shows whether a person is currently typing something into the chat. Of that reported the well-known portal WABetaInfo.

While you previously had to look at the status bar at the top of the screen to find out whether a person was currently writing something or recording a voice message, an icon with three moving dots is now inserted directly within the chat as a kind of placeholder.

Group chats benefit twice from this change. On the one hand, they are busier, which means that this symbol will be used more often. On the other hand, so far only one person has been specified as typing, even if several users have typed. However, the profile pictures of all contacts who are currently using the keyboard are now provided.

When will the update be available?

Android fans can rejoice. The WhatsApp update, which brings with it the changed display, is already being rolled out in the official version for your devices. If, on the other hand, you own an iOS device, you still have to be patient. The feature is currently only in the beta version of WhatsApp.

Interestingly, the US company itself has not yet officially announced the function. Even in the changelog of the Google Play Store, in which the current changes are listed, there is currently no mention of the new WhatsApp update display. However, that could change very soon.
