“WhatsApp Unveils New ‘Keep in Chat’ Feature for Saving Disappearing Messages”

Today, WhatsApp officially unveiled its latest feature, which is an evolution of the disappearing messages feature that was first launched in 2020. It’s called Keep in Chat and it basically allows you to keep texts that you need for later, even if that’s the case. type of invisibility.

Here’s how it works: once you decide to keep a particular item, it disappears, the sender is notified, and has an opportunity to dispute it. Once the sender says a message cannot be kept, that decision is final and no one else can keep it either. The message will be forcibly deleted when the timer runs out.

This is a fun way to save some of the disappearing messages without making the whole concept totally meaningless. You probably won’t get much use – or rather, a lot of sender confirmations, otherwise why not just send regular messages instead? – but it’s still definitely in the nice to have category.

Your saved messages are marked with a bookmark icon and are available to you via chat in your Saved Messages folder. According to WhatsApp, the keep-in chat feature will be rolling out to all users worldwide “in the next few weeks.”
