The popular chat app WhatsApp will soon stop working on many devices. Older phones that many people still use will no longer be technically supported by the app.
The measure will affect all devices with an operating system older than Android 5, WhatsApp informs on its official website. The measure will officially come into force on October 24, 2023.
“To keep up with the latest technological advances, we periodically end support for older versions of operating systems and focus on supporting newer versions,” explains WhatsApp.
The company adds that it will send notifications in advance to the owners of all devices that will cease to be supported, so that they are not surprised by a broken WhatsApp from day to day.
