WhatsApp to Introduce HD Status Photos and Videos in Next Update, Integration with Instagram Stories in Development

WhatsApp also prepares users to create statuses with HD quality photos or videos. Although not yet tested in beta, this feature is expected to be an interesting addition in the next update.

The Status section in WhatsApp will display an HD icon, allowing users to select high-resolution photos and videos directly from Status. Support for HD photos and videos in Status is an improvement over the HD feature which was released in August 2023.

“This is a further step in providing better visual quality to WhatsApp users,” said an internal WhatsApp source.

4. Integration of WhatsApp Status with Instagram Stories

WhatsApp is developing an option to link Instagram accounts with WhatsApp. This feature, which is still in development, will allow WhatsApp status updates to be posted directly as Stories on Instagram.

While this kind of integration may differentiate WhatsApp from its competitors, the differences in content between WhatsApp and Instagram may make this feature less relevant for some users.
