Whatsapp Tests Out Group Without Trace Feature

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Instant messaging app WhatsApp is currently testing a feature that allows users to quietly exit groups.

The WhatsApp application is commonly used either for personal or work-related matters.

Not infrequently this application makes users involved in various groups, even some unwanted groups.

Some users sometimes feel ‘stuck’ but are reluctant to leave their group for various reasons, even though they actually want to leave the group.

WhatsApp is trying to solve this problem by testing the “silently exit group” feature or leaving the WhatsApp group secretly.

Reported WABetainfothere is a screenshot showing a different display when a user wants to leave a WhatsApp group.

In the dialog box it says ‘Only you and the group admin are notified that you left the group’.

Currently the system will notify all members in the group if a member leaves the group by displaying his name in the chat room.

The screenshot was found on WhatsApp Beta version 2.2218.1 for Desktop devices. But most likely this feature will also be present for the Android and iOS versions of the WhatsApp application.

However, there is no definite information when the feature will be rolled out to users at large. Usually, a feature that is being tested on the beta channel will be released in the next few weeks, but it is not uncommon for the feature to be canceled too.

Previously the WhatsApp application had launched several updates such as the emoji reaction feature, an increase in the number of group members to 512 people, and sending large files up to 2GB.
