WhatsApp is working on several new features across different platforms, and the Meta-owned platform has now begun testing a new cropping tool for the drawing editor option on Windows. The feature allows users to crop images within the app or while sharing an image via the Windows version of the app, according to WABetaInfo. .
According to the report, the feature is currently available in a beta version of WhatsApp for Windows and is currently only available with a select group of beta testers via the Microsoft Store. Also, the feature has been found in WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2321.3.0 as per the report.
As we mentioned, the feature allows users to crop images using the application, and this eliminates the need for any external application or tool for users, and earlier users were forced to use any external image editing tool such as the Microsoft Photos application, or another online cropping tool to edit an image before sharing it on WhatsApp.
Now, the feature is built right into the app and users can crop the image in real-time while sharing images. The cropping tool for the drawing editor is reportedly available to select beta testers running WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2321.3.0.
And if you want to try out the new cropping tool, download and install the update from the Microsoft Store. We expect WhatsApp to expand this feature to more beta users in the coming weeks.
The drawing editor includes many features, including highlighting text or a specific area, and besides this, users also have the option to add annotations before sending the image, and at the bottom there is a text box that allows users to add a caption to the image.
