The WhatsApp platform is testing some new changes in the Channels section, according to what was observed in recent beta versions of the application. Add an announcement
Most notable changes to WhatsApp
Possibility of sharing publications
The most prominent of these changes is the ability to share posts from within channels as a status within the application, with a new user interface for that function.
The application will display the posts in a specific frame, displaying the name of the channel from which the post was shared, and providing a button through which you can go directly to the channel.
The new changes appear very similar to the Instagram platform – also owned by Meta – which displays the same interface when sharing posts as statuses, and these changes may contribute to bridging the gap between the various platforms affiliated with Meta by unifying the user experience in them.
Opinion polls and photo collection
WhatsApp is also testing the addition of an opinion poll feature and automatically collecting photos that are published at once within channels into an album to make it easier to review them, as is the case in individual chats and groups.
WhatsApp launched the channels feature earlier this year on a global scale, allowing owners to share content with a wide range of users who can interact with posts in it via emojis without revealing their identity.
The channels have become widespread among users of the application, as Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, stated that the number of channel users on WhatsApp had exceeded 500 million monthly active users by the end of last November.
Add ads
Some reports indicate that Meta intends to add ads to the WhatsApp application in the future in the updates section, where statuses and channel updates appear.
