The feature, still being tested in beta versions of the app, had already been released for Android users in recent months and has now arrived on the iPhone as well. This was reported by the famous WABetaInfo portal, explaining that the “View once” function allows users to send photos and videos that they can only be opened once. They are then automatically deleted and are no longer available.

The feature is currently available for beta WhatsApp users and not yet available for the global app user. If you are in this group, just open the app to find a pop-up that explains how the new function and have access to news, which allows you to send messages that can only be viewed once. These contents, once opened, will display the words “open” and can no longer be viewed. It is still possible to see when these messages were received and opened, with the classic blue double check system.

As with all of these features on apps like Snapchat, it’s always best to proceed with caution when sending sensitive content, even if it can only be viewed once. Those who receive the messages, in fact, can do screenshot or record the phone screen, actions which, unlike other applications, do not involve sending notification to the sender. In this way, there is no possibility of knowing whether the recipient saved the item by bypassing the automatic deletion function.
