WhatsApp takes everyone by surprise at the end of the month with new features for groups and communities. After rolling out Communities in 2022, the group’s instant messaging platform Meta rolled out various features to return group management to admins.
Last year, we rolled out Communities to help people get the most out of groups on WhatsApp. Since the launch, we wanted to develop even more tools for both admins and users. Today, we’re happy to roll out various changes we’ve made to make groups more manageable for admins and easier to use for everyone.
In December 2022, WhatsApp announced the ability for groups to accommodate more than 1024 participants in a group. This new change applied to groups is now official.
More control for group admins
Admins have more control over groups. They can decide who can join the group or not via a simple tool. This tool appears when an admin chooses to share the invitation link or make it accessible.
This method can ensure the security of a group blocking access to malicious users.
Easily discover common groups
Communities and their groups are thriving, which is why we want you to be able to find out which groups you have in common with other people. Whether you’re trying to remember the name of a group you know you share with someone, or want to see the groups you’re both in, for example, you can now easily find that information by looking at the a person’s contact page.
The 3ᵉ novelty was deployed to develop communities on WhatsApp. The messaging application will allow users to discover the groups you have in common with other users.
This information will now be on the user’s contact page.
These different new features will be open to the public in the coming weeks. However, to take advantage of it, please update your application.
Today, WhatsApp has over 2.26 billion users and remains the most widely used messaging platform.
