In other words, with this update, it is possible to use the instant messaging app on up to four linked devices without the users needing to be connected via a smartphone.

- Select Settings then Linked Devices
- Select Multi-Device Beta, then press Join Beta
Once your devices are paired, messages can be sent and received using the desktop app or the WhatsApp web service, and your phone will no longer need to stay online. Note that you cannot send messages or call from the web, desktop, or portal to users who have an outdated version of WhatsApp on their phone.
