Now, WhatsApp is rolling out a shopping feature as a complement to the catalog. The shopping feature on WhatsApp allows Business account users to sell goods, and regular users to buy items from the catalog.
The buying and selling feature on WhatsApp was officially released in several countries starting today, Thursday (22/10/2020), including in Indonesia, via an update (update) latest on the Android and iOS platforms.

According to WhatsApp, this feature will make it easy for business people who rely on WhatsApp as a platform for selling.
WhatsApp assesses that the current global pandemic shows that a business needs a fast and efficient way to serve customers and drive sales.
“This will help many small businesses as the ones most affected by the pandemic,” WhatsApp wrote in an official statement to KompasTekno.
With this feature, users can select items available in the catalog of an account WhatsApp Business and add to shopping cart. Apart from making payments, users can also choose the desired shipping method.

However, it is not yet known which payment and delivery methods users can choose through the shopping feature via WhatsApp.
However, not long ago, Facebook as the parent of WhatsApp was found to be channeling funds to Gojek. The funds are said to be used to encourage the adoption of the GoPay digital payment system.
So, there is a possibility that GoPay will become one of the payment methods in this new feature. Apart from shopping features, WhatsApp also released services hosting to manage WhatsApp messages.
