WhatsApp releases picture-in-picture video calling for iOS – IT Pro – News

WhatsApp is releasing an update for iOS, making it possible to use picture-in-picture when making video calls. This allows an iPhone user to use other apps during a video call, minimizing the video call.

Picture-in-picture isn’t the only addition to WhatsApp version 23.3.77 for iOS. In the release notes of the app can be read that the update makes it possible, among other things, to add captions when sending documents. Longer topics and descriptions can also be added to group chats.

PiP mode has been in beta for some time and is now being released for WhatsApp on the iPhone. The feature will be rolled out in the “coming weeks,” according to parent company Meta, just like the other additions that the update brings.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp added the ability to post a voice message of up to 30 seconds as a Status. You can also respond to a Status with emojis. From now on, users can decide for themselves with whom a Status is shared. Once again, the rollout to all users will take several weeks.
