Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia —
Instant messaging application Whatsapp released the latest proxy feature that allows users to send messages without data package.
This last feature was launched because a number of WhatsApp users encountered several problems when they wanted to use this service. This obstacle is related to internet service outages being turned off or WhatsApp being blocked in an area due to state policy.
A number of countries have been known to experience internet disconnections or interruptions which makes it difficult to connect to WhatsApp.
For example, the Iranian government shut down its country’s internet amid protests over its hijab-wearing policy. Another example is the war in Ukraine which disrupted the internet in the region, making it difficult for citizens to communicate.
On his blog, Whatsapp He said his party, volunteers and organizations have set up a proxy server to help users stay connected to WhatsApp and be able to communicate normally.
“We continue to fight for your right to communicate freely and privately. Now, when it’s not possible to connect directly to WhatsApp, you can stay connected worldwide through servers created by volunteers and organizations dedicated to helping others communicate freely.‘ WhatsApp said in a Twitter upload on Thursday (5/1).
This Meta subsidiary claims that users who use proxies to connect still get end-to-end encryption protection like other users.
“WhatsApp exists to connect the world privately, and we hope this solution helps users around the world when internet outages hamper their ability to communicate securely with loved ones,” WhatsApp wrote.
This proxy feature is available to all users, both those using Android and iOS.
Reported Computer that playsWhatsApp warns when a user wants to enable this feature to “use a proxy only when unable to connect to WhatsApp. Your IP address is visible to the proxy provider, but not to WhatsApp”.

1. Open the WhatsApp application
2. Go to the Settings section
3. Go to the Storage and data section
