WhatsApp may soon make a major change in terms of privacy. According to information from WaBetaInfo cited by 20 Minutes, instant messaging would consider forwarding certain messages from users to moderators. However, one of the main advantages of the app is the secure encryption of all conversations.
The messages concerned would be those reported by a user. The stated objective is to fight against spam, bullying online or insults by taking more stringent measures against the authors of such messages. Today, the conversation is deleted and the profile is blocked to prevent any communication with the person who made the report.
The legitimacy of the report assessed
With the change that WhatsApp wants to make, a reported message would be transferred to the application’s servers along with several other recent messages to provide context. These exchanges would be read by moderators so that they can assess the legitimacy of the report and take appropriate measures.
Among the measures taken by the moderators is the ban on phone number author of unwanted messages. For now, the details of this new moderation system are not yet known. Likewise, no one yet knows when this will be implemented on the application.
