Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – It won’t be long before a number of cellphones will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. This will apply to cellphones that use older operating systems (OS).
The policy will take effect on October 24 2023 or in two days. All types of cellphones, both Android and iPhone, will be affected by the WhatsApp policy.
For example, Android phones that still use Android 4.4.4 can no longer access WhatsApp. Unless your phone is already using Android 5 or later.
If you don’t know the type of OS you are using, you can check it via Settings or the settings of the Android cellphone you are using. Next, go to the About and Android Version menu.
iPhones with old school iOS are also not free from this policy. Except for iPhones that support iOS 12 or later, you can still use WhatsApp after October 24 2023.
This policy has little impact on many Android and iPhone users. Because there are far fewer users.
It is reported that there are fewer Android OS 4.4.4 users. Even the latest Android 6 is only used by 1.69% of all Android users as of May 2023 data.
If you are still using a cellphone with an old OS and it is on the block list, you should replace it with a cellphone that supports the latest operating system.
