In the past few weeks, WhatsApp has been heavily criticized due to the changes in the terms of use. Now there is reason to be happy again for the users of the popular messenger service. WhatsApp has released a new feature.
Sending long text messages has long been replaced by voice memos by some users. When you’re out and about and don’t have time to type on your phone for minutes, just click the microphone icon and send a memo. Who does not know it?
Even if there is a lot to talk about, but there is no time to make a call, sending voice messages is a popular alternative. But sometimes the memos get really long. Whether five, ten or twenty minutes, there is no limit for the voice memo.

With a new feature, WhatsApp wants to make it easier for its users to listen to voice messages. From version 2.21.100 the memos can be played back at up to twice the speed.

Faster playback of the voice message: this is how it works
And this is how it looks: If you receive a voice note, a number appears on the right as soon as you press play. The voice memos can be played at three speeds. The normal speed (1x) starts automatically. If you click once on the number on it, the playback speed increases to 1.5x.
At this speed, i.e. 0.5 times faster than at normal speed, the voice message can still be understood relatively well. If you press the number again, the number changes to 2x. This means that the voice memo is played at twice the speed. The language can still be understood well here, but you should be concentrated when listening in order to be able to follow the content.

The function is therefore ideally suited to listen to a voice message again, but in a fast run-through. For example, you can also play your own messages at the respective speeds. If you send a memo and want to quickly check it again, this is also possible thanks to the new function.
