Was it frustrating that you couldn’t use WhatsApp on more than one additional device at a time? Until then, WhatsApp allowed you to connect your smartphone to the PC application using a QR Code and that’s it. A capricious system, which only works if your smartphone is on and connected to the internet. In other words, you cannot use your PC to check or write messages if your phone is dead or has been lost.
WhatsApp has been testing alternative connection modes in beta for some time. And one of those tests is being launched widely among iOS users. If you have an iPhone, it is now possible to connect your WhatsApp account on up to four devices simultaneously – which can be a PC / Mac, a Facebook Portal speaker or a device connected to the web version of WhatsApp. Unfortunately, it is not (yet?) Possible to associate a second smartphone with your account.
WhatsApp: multi-account connection arrives on iOS
To benefit from it, you just have to be on iPhone, join the WhatsApp beta program and make sure you are under the latest version of the program (2.21.180.14). By going to settings, you will see a new screen prompting you to connect WhatsApp on more than one device simultaneously. If you opt for this test, you no longer need to keep your smartphone on or connected to the internet to use WhatsApp on your other devices.
Adding new devices is similar to connecting to the current PC / Mac app or web version. Just scan a QR Code with your smartphone and you’re done. Of course, for now, the feature is in beta, which means that there may be bugs, such as a bit long association times, especially if your message history is particularly large. For the moment, WhatsApp does not give any information on the availability of the feature on Android smartphones.

As we are still in the context of a test, it is also not possible to know when this feature will be offered to the bulk of traditional WhatsApp users. The application, which has been focusing on security for a long time, seems to want to ensure as much as possible of the security of its system, so as not to have to deal with scandals such as data leaks or hacks.
