WhatsApp now lets you post any emoji as a comment below a message

Since May this year, WhatsApp users can respond via emoji† There was only a choice of six pieces: 👍❤️😂😮😢🙏. They can be added to a message by pressing and holding that message. Now it can respond with any emoji, writes Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Meta owns WhatsApp.

The new feature is being rolled out step-by-step. Users who already have the feature will now see a plus sign next to the selection of six emoji. Pressing the plus will access a selection screen with more emoji. It is not clear when all users will be able to use the new feature.

The same restrictions as before still apply. Users can only leave one emoji per message and it is not possible to hide comments.

WhatsApp also works with Emojipedia, a site that explains emoji gives. The site has the most popular emoji of the moment from cultural context provided: for example, the emoji with a cap means that something is a lie.

More new features

Last week it was announced that WhatsApp is also working on a new option with which others can no longer see if you are online. It has recently become possible to hide last seen status for specific contacts. The profile picture and profile text can also be hidden.

WhatsApp is also developing a new function with which users can still adjust sent messages. It is not yet known when the editing function will be introduced.
