WhatsApp announced this Monday that it will allow users to edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending. This functionality is already offered by applications such as Telegram and Signal, and will be made available in the coming weeks to the more than 2 billion WhatsApp users.
“From correcting a spelling error to adding extra content to a message, we’re excited to offer more controls over your messages,” the service announced in a blog post.
To edit a message, just press on the sent text and choose the edit option. Edited messages will be marked with “edited” information, so users will know that the content has changed. However, they won’t know how the content was changed.
The WhatsApp announcement, which is part of Meta, came after Telegram and Signal started offering the option to edit messages. Facebook introduced the edit option to its app over ten years ago.
