WhatsApp recently started rolling out the long-awaited message reaction feature to people worldwide, but it’s not the only change that will reach all users. The Meta-owned messaging platform has also announced that it will soon increase the member limit per WhatsApp group. Here are the details.
WhatsApp group limit increase
A recently blog entry shows that whatsapp will users will soon be able to add up to 512 members to a group. This is twice the current limit of 256 members for a WhatsApp group. The feature is slowly rolling out to users, and we expect it to reach all Android and iOS users soon.
This will be a welcome change for many, especially organizations that tend to involve a large group of people. Nevertheless it is so less than the huge 20,000 member limit available on Telegramanother popular messaging platform.
In addition, WhatsApp also has started by introducing the ability to send files up to 2GB in size, which are decrypted end-to-end. This is a significant increase over the previously set 100MB file size limit. The messaging platform recommends using Wi-Fi for large file transfers, and there will now be an indicator during the transfer process to let people know about the progress. This feature was first introduced in a recent WhatsApp beta.
As you already know, the news reactions have also started to reach the users and the latest versions of the app support them now. Users can simply long press on a message and choose from the 6 emoji options to respond to it. WhatsApp has confirmed that more emoji options will be added to the list soon, similar to those available on Instagram.
