The next festival, an upcoming trip or a short trip over the weekend: All this and much more is planned in WhatsApp groups these days. Up to 512 participants can exchange information in a chat – coming and going is logically inevitable. Previously, a small message popped up in the chat window when a member left the group. But that is about to change:WABetaInfo” found a feature in a preview of a new WhatsApp update. In concrete terms, this is a list on which all group members can be seen – including the former ones.
Even in times of crisis, encrypted messenger services are part of everyday life. But how good and safe are the services really?

WhatsApp: More transparency for members
The developers are removing the previous message from Messenger – only the list will remain. All members who have left the group in the last 60 days are still displayed there. FYI: You don’t have to be a group admin to see the information – it’s visible to everyone. The exact date and time when the member left the group is also displayed. The change can already be seen on the following screenshots of “WABetaInfo”.
WhatsApp: Update coming soon
Since the update is still in an early beta phase, it has only landed on selected iOS devices so far. Nevertheless, it is likely that the new function will also come to Android smartphones and tablets. It is currently unclear when exactly it will land on the respective devices. From experience, however, it shouldn’t be long.
