WhatsApp not only enables exchange via text and voice messages, calls are also no problem with the messenger. If desired, conversations can even be extended to telephone conferences with several participants. But then the overview quickly goes away and the comfort sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. This is where operator Meta is now starting and making major improvements in the course of a current update. As the company announced in a press release, WhatsApp now has three new features that are intended to optimize group calls.
The first are so-called banner notifications for newcomers. If a user joins an ongoing group call, this was often not clear to the others until now. That can end up being uncomfortable. For example, when the group is making plans for a surprise party and the future birthday child mingles with the audience unnoticed. This shouldn’t happen again in the future. When a new participant joins the group call, a banner stating “Person X has joined the call” now appears on everyone’s display.
