Whatsapp is currently planning to make it much easier to write and understand messages in different languages by introducing an automatic translation function. It is expected to be introduced with the new version 2.24.15.12 – and according to the developers’ ideas, it should break down language barriers and revolutionize nothing less than global communication behavior.

As the portal “WABetaInfo” reports, users will soon have the option to set the app so that all messages are translated automatically. It is currently still being tested, but the beta version for Android is already available. Users select the desired translation language and WhatsApp downloads the required language packages.
As soon as the message is translated, a notification appears in the message field confirming the successful translation. This preserves the original meaning of the message and avoids misunderstandings. At launch, only a limited number of languages will be available, including English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Hindi. More languages, including German, will be added in future updates.

Another advantage of the function is that all translations are carried out directly on the device. End-to-end encryption is maintained and, according to “WABetaInfo”, no data is sent to external servers. A specially developed technology is used to protect the privacy of users.
