WhatsApp Messenger rolls out picture-in-picture for video calls

For WhatsApp Messenger (App Store-Link) there is currently an exciting update. Especially if you not only use the app for messages, but also make a video call. Then you now benefit from a picture-in-picture mode.

“Thanks to the support of the ‘picture-in-picture’ function of iOS, you can now use other apps during a WhatsApp call without your video stopping,” the development team tells us in the update description. Previously, the video was paused for the other person if, for example, you looked up something in another app. That is now a thing of the past.

These are the other innovations in WhatsApp 3/23/77

  • You can now add captions when sending documents.
  • Longer group subjects and descriptions are now supported to make it easier for you to describe your groups.
  • You can now create your own avatars and use them as stickers or profile pictures. To do this, open Settings > Avatar.

If one of the new features does not work on your iPhone after the update, it is quite possible that your account has not yet been activated. In this case, just a little bit of patience helps.
