A few weeks ago, some users reported that they lost media content from their WhatsApp messaging app. This malfunction occurs a few days after the last update of WhatsApp. This problem particularly affects users of Android version 2.21.9.2 and 2.21.9.3.

WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s online beta tracker site, has found that some users have noticed that they are unable to find their media content, such as photos and videos, on the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android.
However, media content existed on their phones and was accessible through the photo gallery.
WABetaInfo proposed a solution to make a backup of the disappeared multimedia.
Here are the steps to follow:
1. Go to the WhatsApp application
2. Go to Settings
3. Go to Discussions
4. Go to Backups
5. Tap Save Now
After the 5 steps have been taken, the backup will start, so be patient. After backing up, continue with these instructions.
1. Close your WhatsApp app (make sure the app is closed properly and not running in the background)
2. Open your phone’s File Manager
3. Go to WhatsApp
4. Go to Media
5. Move the contents of the Media folder
6. Go to Android
7. Go to Media
8. Go to com.WhatsApp
9. Go to WhatsApp
10. Go to Media
11. Paste the contents of the Media file
12. Wait until all content is moved to the destination folder.
13. Open the WhatsApp application.
If you have followed all these steps to the letter, your multimedia content will return to its place. In case you don’t want to follow these steps, wait for a new WhatsApp update to come out to resolve the missing media error.
