Whatsapp is about to test a new feature: its competitor Snapchat has been offering it for a long time
In addition to Whatsapp, there are a whole range of apps to send photos, videos and texts, especially for younger users. The messaging giant seems to be adopting a special feature of its competitor Snapchat.
Snapchat is characterized by the fact that sent files and messages disappear automatically once the recipient has viewed them. This should soon be possible with a new feature in Whatsapp.
For some time it has been possible to send images and videos via Whatsapp, which are automatically deleted after the recipient clicks. This is not yet possible for texts.

However, as early indications show, this is bound to change in the future. The portal About the WA Beta specializes in Messenger news and shows a screenshot that should surprise some users.
You read a message in the Whatsapp chat that says: “The text has expired. Please ask … to resend the message”. This should be an early indication that it should soon be possible to send messages that are automatically deleted after viewing.
Self-deletion of texts on Whatsapp: should iPhone owners do without it?
Similar to single aperture images, the chat bubble has a “1” in a circle in the background. Next to it is “Text” to identify that it is a matching message. If the message has been opened, the circle turns green and cannot be reopened (more digital news at RUHR24).
To send a self-deleting message, Whatsapp initially added a lock icon to the trial version. This is next to the green arrow on the right side of the screen that users need to click to send a message. However, points computer image point out that the optics may still change in the final update.
It is not yet officially clear for which operating systems the new Whatsapp function should be available. According to computer image the update is initially planned for Android and offers users an important advantage: self-deleting messages not only save storage space in the long term, but can also be protected from prying eyes.
