WhatsApp is working on allowing users to filter chats through these custom lists, according to a new report. This revelation comes from WABetaInfowhich also shared screenshots showing how users can filter chats through custom lists. The labels for the custom lists will appear alongside the current All, Unread, and Groups labels in the app. The name of the filter will be the same as the list, and clicking on it will show the individual and group chats associated with that list.
This feature was spotted in the WhatsApp for Android beta app with version number 2.24.18.16. However, since it is still under development, it is not available even for beta users yet. However, you can expect it to be available to everyone on the beta channel in the coming weeks before it is rolled out publicly.
WhatsApp now allows contact synchronization on Android
However, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, version 2.24.18.14, has introduced an interesting new feature: contact sync management. This works with the upcoming ability to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same phone.
This will give you separate contacts for each account. You can choose which contacts to sync to your smartphone and manage WhatsApp contacts from your linked devices. If you want, you can turn off syncing to your phone from your secondary WhatsApp account.
Interestingly, even if you turn off contact syncing for an account, you can still manually sync each contact to an upcoming beta version. Manually syncing a contact will make it available on all linked devices. There will also be a new contact backup option that will allow you to restore your contacts if you reinstall the app.
As always with WhatsApp features that are in development, expect it to be at least a few months before they are available to everyone.
