The most popular app on Brazilians’ cell phones is without a doubt WhatsApp. The messaging application arrived in Brazil in 2009 and has collected, over its years of existence in the country, more than 100 million users.
Initially, the proposal of the application was to allow a faster exchange of messages. Furthermore, one of the initial innovations of the app was to give the user the opportunity to use a photo, or status, next to their name in the application.

Anyone who can’t get out of the world’s most famous messaging app should already know that WhatsApp has gone through a series of updates recently. These updates served to introduce new tools and functions to the application, which aim to improve the user experience.
After an extensive period of testing, with the aim of ensuring proper functioning and acceptance by consumers, the new WhatsApp features finally reached users’ cell phones. However, it is worth mentioning that the changes that occurred very recently are being made available, in principle, for users who have cell phones under the Android system.
So what can one do on WhatsApp now?
Well, first we should mention the feature that has become a sensation among Facebook owned apps. WhatsApp, like Instagram, has launched the avatar feature. These avatars are user-drawn versions that can have their appearance and accessories modified, to better achieve the resemblance to the person.
Another recent feature that the app presented was the increase in the number of characters that the description of a WhatsApp group can have. The current number is now 2048 characters long. Furthermore, the number of media files that can be uploaded through the app has also increased.

New WhatsApp tool?
Although it hasn’t gone through approval yet, a very useful new tool could reach WhatsApp users very soon!
The new feature that the application intends to offer is a tool to transcribe audio files. This function began to be considered and tested by WhatsApp years ago, in 2021. However, the process to introduce this feature to the application’s interface was interrupted the following year, in May 2022.
But it seems that the tests for the approval of the tool are back with everything! And the expectation is that the new function will be made available to users later this year.
The audio transcription tool will be useful when words spoken during the file are not well understood. The new feature can still facilitate the work done by professions that often need to decoupage these files, such as journalism. Audio transcription can also be a game-changing innovation for the deaf community.
