WhatsApp lets users mute each other in video chat

Typically, messaging apps only allow you to silence an entire video chat, not specific users. WhatsApp is now changing that, writes WhatsApp boss Will Catchart on Twitter. That can be useful, especially when people in a video chat forget to mute themselves.

Incidentally, you can not only silence individual participants, you can also send them a quick text message, for example to point out that they are not yet on ‘mute’.

Finally, an extra notification occurs when new people join a video chat while it has been going on for a while. This way participants immediately know that someone has joined.

WhatsApp has added several useful features in recent days. From now on it is possible to choose who can and who does not have access to you ‘last seen’ status.
