Liputan6.com, Jakarta – WhatsApp has finally officially released a standalone application for Mac users, after previously launching it for users desktop Windows earlier this year,
This announcement was also made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via his Facebook account, where he also revealed that this application would be able to make group video calls for up to eight people.
“Launching the WhatsApp application for Mac. Group calls can be for 8 people on video and 32 on audio,” said Zuckerberg, quoted on Wednesday (30/8/2023).
On its official blog, Meta says users of the MacOS-only app can also join group call once started, view call history, and choose to receive call notifications even when the app is closed.
“This app has been redesigned to be familiar to Mac users, helping you get more done done faster when using WhatsApp on a big screen,” wrote Meta.
“You can now share files by easily dragging and dropping into chats, and can see more of your chat history,” the Facebook parent added.
Meta reiterated that the WhatsApp application on Mac will keep messages and calls private on every device with the system end-to-end encryption.
The WhatsApp application on Mac can also be downloaded at WhatsApp.com and will be launched on the App Store.
