WhatsApp launches Avatar feature to spice up conversations

You will soon have to get used to seeing your loved ones sharing little virtual characters in their likeness with you on WhatsApp. The famous messaging system with 2 billion users has announced the implementation of a new “Avatar” feature. The rollout of the update began on December 7 and will be phased nationwide later this year.

“We are launching avatars on WhatsApp! Today you can use your avatar as a sticker in chats. Soon new templates will be available on all our applications”, explains the Meta group in the press release published on this new tool.

Launching avatars in WhatsApp won’t disrupt messaging too much. These cartoons, to customize according to your tastes, can be used as a profile photo or simply in response to a message in the form of a sticker. The application offers many possibilities in creating your character with a wide choice of clothes, haircuts and physical attributes. A panel of 36 custom reactions can be saved in the mailbox.

“Many people have never used avatars before. We will update them regularly to improve brightness, shadows, hair texture and other features that will make avatars even more realistic over time,” promises WhatsApp.

This update marks another step in bringing together WhatsApp and the other messengers of the Meta group, Instagram and Messenger, which already offer this feature to their users.
