Jakarta (ANTARA) – Instant messaging platform WhatsApp is testing picture-in-picture (PIP) mode for video calls on iOS devices.
WhatsApp in a press release received in Jakarta on Thursday wrote that the PiP feature was being tested. PiP mode for iOS devices will launch in the new year.
“Multitask during a call with ease with the minimized in-call video screen,” WhatsApp said.
In many applications, PiP mode allows users to minimize the application screen so that other applications on the smartphone can be opened.
PiP mode for WhatsApp video calls is already available for Android devices.
PiP mode on iOS will join the series of video calling improvements on the WhatsApp app. WhatsApp recently increased the number of video call participants to 32 people, up from just eight people on a video call before.
Users can now also mute (mute) video and audio call participants
The WABetaInfo site in early December discovered that the PiP mode for WhatsApp video calls could be accessible by a number of users of the beta application.
WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp video calling PiP mode can indeed be used on iOS 15, but it is suspected that this feature will be present in the iOS 16 update.
