Whatsapp innovations: Messenger is planning two updates for voice messages
In May, the instant messaging service surprised with a change in the way it listened to voice messages *. Since then, these can be played at different speeds. A feature that can be really useful, especially with long messages.
Now there should be two more innovations:
- the global voice message player
- as well as the ability to pause voice messages while recording.

Whatsapp – global voice message player allows listening outside of a chat
Like the beta portal WABetainfo reported, the so-called global voice message player brings a long-awaited function. Because this will enable users in the future to listen to voice messages even after they have left the corresponding chat.
The player will appear at the top of the view. It can be played or paused here at any time. For example, users could soon type messages in other chats and listen to the received voice message at the same time. If desired, the voice message can then simply be closed again (more news about digital * on RUHR24).
Whatsapp change: pause voice messages even when recording
The further change that the service is planning also brings practical benefits to users. It will be loud in the future WABetainfo be able to pause voice recordings. So far, users have only been able to pause voice messages while listening to them. However, if you record a message and are disturbed by the doorbell, screaming children or the like, there is currently no other option than to record the message from scratch.
That should change with the update. For this purpose, another recording symbol should appear soon after the recording has ended. If you tap on it, the started recording can be continued. According to the beta portal, both new features are currently still in development – and should be released with an upcoming update for Android and iOS. *RUHR24 is part of the editorial network of IPPEN.MEDIA.
