WhatsApp developers are constantly coming up with various modifications to the application. This week they introduced a new feature in logging in with the help of passkeys. This technology will allow users to forget their password. At the same time, the application is more secure thanks to it.
The latest update to WhatsApp will enable passwordless login, making life easier for many people who already have to remember a series of passwords for other websites and apps. The novelty of logging in with the help of passkeys is now available for users of the Android operating system. For now, iPhone owners have to wait for the feature.
Passkeys is a technology that uses, for example, a fingerprint or face scan to log in. This eliminates the obligation to set and enter a password. The passkey data is stored directly in the phone, so it is harder to break or steal it. WhatsApp launched the new feature this week, reported on social network X.
WhatsApp is constantly working to improve its overall security. Recently a British daily The Sun reported a secret code feature for locked chats that the developers of the chat app are working on. Its goal is to improve the privacy of conversations, without a password no one would get into them.
Next week, WhatsApp will end support on devices running older than Android 5.0. “To keep up with the latest technological advances, we periodically end support for older versions of operating systems and focus on supporting new versions,” the company said on its websites. The application itself warns users affected by the change.
