A useful feature has arrived in WhatsApp
WhatsApp is among the most popular chat apps in the world, but it faces ever-increasing competition. Developers are aware of this and therefore try to introduce new features.
In the last few months, they have added several new gadgets to the application. For example, people can use proxy connections, cute 3D avatars or enhanced statuses. And now comes another amazing gadget – you can now send video messages of up to sixty seconds.
Currently, this feature is only available to selected beta testers, but will be gradually rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.
According to WabetaInfo, whose editors often dig into the code of non-public versions of the app, the video messaging feature is present in beta version 23.6.0.73 for iOS and beta 2.23.8.19 for Android.
To check if you can already use the feature, press the microphone button inside the chat bar in any conversation. If it changes to a camera symbol, it means you can now record and send video messages.
End-to-end encrypted video messages
This is an interesting feature because video messages recorded in real time bring a sense of immediacy and authenticity. In addition, clips are always end-to-end encrypted.
This means that the content of the clips is protected from the moment it leaves your device until it reaches the recipient’s device. This means that no one else, including developers, can see or listen to what has been recorded.
Also worth noting is the fact that video messages cannot be forwarded directly through the application. However, you can still save them via screen recording because they don’t support “one-time view” mode yet.
