Every Whatsapp user knows it: you don’t have your hands free to answer in the chat. Therefore, one answers by voice message. It is probably the most popular function of the messenger service.
Now Whatsapp has released another long-awaited feature that hardly any user knew anything about.
Whatsapp: new feature
At the beginning of February, Whatsapp announced that users can also share voice messages in the status and since the end of February this has also been available on Android phones. After an update to version 23.5.77, iPhone users now have the option of posting voice messages with a length of 30 seconds in the story.
But there is a catch. During the recording you have to keep the microphone button pressed the entire time. It’s different in the chat version, where you can simply swipe up and record hands-free.
This editorial team has tried it on various smartphones for the story and unfortunately it is not (yet) possible. It won’t be long before this feature is available soon.
In the story or in the chat: what do users prefer?
Whatsapp has started a survey on Twitter about the new feature. Up to 10,000 users voted. The messenger service wanted to know whether users prefer to share voice messages in chat or in status. The clear majority spoke out in favor of voice messages in the chat and rather against the variant in the story.
However, there are also users on social media who are satisfied with the new feature. But there’s one thing they miss: the ability to listen to voice messages at double the speed. This is always possible in the chats.
More news for you:
Numerous Whatsapp users are members of groups that have not been active for a long time – either because the occasion that led to the creation of the group has already passed, or because you simply don’t have that much to do with certain people anymore. But the groups will not disappear on their own. You must first actively log out. However, many forget that. A new function could help there now – but your messages will also be deleted with it.
