WhatsApp Introduces New Feature for Testers: Sending Photos and Videos as Documents

WhatsApp lets a small group of testers send photos and videos as documents. This ensures that the files keep their original resolution. The function has already been spotted in an earlier test version of Android from September.

WABetaInfo noticed the feature in the iOS test version 23.23.1.74. The site shows in a screenshot that users can also select a photo or video from their gallery when sending a document.

The feature currently appears to only be available to a small group of testers, but will expand to more beta users in the coming weeks. It is not yet known when the feature will be rolled out to all users.
