The WhatsApp messaging service will now allow the editing user messages during the 15 minutes following their publication.
According to the BBC, which cites a message placed this Monday on the service, those responsible announced that it will be possible “since correct a simple spelling mistake to add extra content to a message”, which will bring users “more control in the chats”.
“All you need to do is, for some time, click on the sent message and choose the option ‘Edit’ from the menu during the 15 minutes following its publication”.
Changed messages will be marked as “edited“, so recipients are aware that the content has changed; however, it will not show how the message has been edited over time.
The editing function was introduced almost a decade ago by the social network Facebook, owned by the American giant Meta, to which WhatsApp belongs.
With this feature, WhatsApp joins Telegram, Signal and Twitter, services that also allow the editing of published messages.
