WhatsApp introduces IP address protection feature for calls: How to activate it in settings

WhatsApp is introducing a feature that will allow you to hide your IP address
It is already available for both Android and iOS

Meta’s WhatsApp has announced a new feature that is available to all iOS and Android users. You can choose directly in the application settings whether you want to hide your IP address.

Don’t miss: WhatsApp is working on a new security feature. Name and profile photos will be much more important

WhatsApp will protect your IP address

Already in June, Meta announced an unexpected news for WhatsApp, namely the possibility to mute unknown callers. The creators boast that this feature helps protect users not only from unwanted contacts, but also from cyber attacks and spyware.

Now WhatsApp adds another novelty, namely the IP address protection feature. If you activate this function, whenever you talk to someone on the phone, the other party will not be able to get information about your IP address. This sensitive data will be encrypted via WhatsApp servers.

In IT, an IP address is a number that uniquely identifies a network interface in a computer network that uses the IP protocol. It is primarily used to distinguish between network interfaces connected to a computer network, whether it is a computer, mobile or other receiver.

How to activate this feature in WhatsApp? Head to Settings => Privacy => at the very bottom Advanced settings and then Protect IP address during calls.

More news

As mentioned, this is one of several recently announced features. One of the big news is also the so-called Chat Lock, which will help users protect their “most intimate conversations” from prying eyes by password-protecting them and saving them in a separate folder.

Undoubtedly, the new disappearing voice messages will also be a welcome novelty in WhatsApp, which will allow you to share voice notes with certainty of privacy, since the other party will not have the chance to save or forward the voice notes.
